This week was all about the first virtual JAMstack Conference, where thousands of JAMstack enthusiasts (read: web developers) from all over the world came together to network, learn and see the potential of JAMstack-related projects.

Static Site Generator Gatsby, and headless CMS Strapi had also big things to announce. So, let’s straight jump into the hot topics of the week:

Hosting/CDN

• Netlify introduced Build Plugins during this weeks JAMstack Conference: “Build Plugins allow you to automate build tasks, customize your build process, and make your development process even easier”

• Netlify also introduced Edge Handlers in preview: “We believe that the CDN should not just be a store for static assets, it should also be an avenue to run your code alongside it. We’re therefore incredibly delighted to release Edge Handlers, a way to directly run code right from the CDN.”

SSG’s

• Gatsby not only turned five this week (happy belated birthday 🎂), but also introduced a new builds benchmarking service for Gatsby Cloud (“Will It Build”) and raised $28M Series B. Well, congrats on that! 🚀

(Headless) CMS

• Strapi meanwhile announced general availability of its popular Open Source Content Management System as well as enterprise support: “5 years after the first commit, 3 years after the launch of the company, we’re incredibly excited to announce the general availability of Strapi Community Edition. This stable version is a huge milestone and marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for the Strapi project and open source community.”
